‘Tis the season for reflecting on last year and planning for next year. At Tortuga, we’ve already had our annual planning meeting and sketched out the next two years of product development and launches. In this post, we’ll share what’s coming next year after a quick recap of this year.

2023 Recap

This year, 2023, felt like Tortuga’s first real, full, post-pandemic year. In January, we launched the Travel Backpack in 40L and 30L sizes, plus a matching set of Packing Cubes. Those were the first new products in our V4 Pro Collection, a reboot of the V3 Outbreaker Collection.

Before the pandemic, we were selling too many variations of travel backpacks. But travelers need more than just a backpack. Packing starts with luggage but doesn’t end there. You told us through surveys and customer feedback that you also wanted smaller bags, accessories, and organizers. So we focused product development there and launched seven more products.

You’ll now find more personal items like the Laptop Backpack and Travel Sling on the store as well as accessories like the Tech Organizer, Passport Pouch, Travel Pouches, Water Bottle, and Travel Towel.

You’ll also save up to $20 per accessory when you buy two or more travel accessories or buy an accessory alongside a backpack.

2024 Preview

2023 was about the Pro Collection of travel backpacks and accessories. 2024 will be about the Lite Collection: simpler, lighter, and cheaper bags that are updates of the V3 Setout Collection.

In the Spring, we’ll launch the first Lite products:

• Travel Backpack Lite 40L: A maximum-sized carry on that’s simpler than the current Travel Backpack and weighs a pound less.
• Packable Backpack: A daypack for sightseeing that packs into itself when you don’t need it.
• Compression Packing Cube: A lightweight cube that can be compressed or expanded as needed.

In the Fall, we’ll launch another Lite backpack. This expandable bag is the latest version of the Tortuga Air (V2) and Setout Divide (V3).

• Expandable Backpack: A mid-sized carry-on that expands (or contracts) depending on what you need for your trip.

Between those two releases will be one more Pro product, an update to the Outbreaker Daypack.

• Daypack Pro: An ultralight laptop bag that packs flat in your luggage for easy one bag travel with your computer.

In addition to all of the new products, we’ll also be updating and improving existing ones in the interest of continuous evolution. We aim for our products to be evergreen but also never want to get complacent. Our job is to keep making better and better stuff to make your travels easier and easier.
